Keep your Chakras healthy and happy

So what is a Chakra? Ok, so lets get a little technical - simply!

Chakras are the energy/power points throughout the body and in our energy field. The main chakras known to most are along the central meridian/spinal column of our body.

These main chakras are known as the Major Chakras. The word chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit, although they are not like any wheels we know. Each chakra is like a spinning coloured disk of energy.

We have so many more Chakras ( over 112 - but whose counting?) and these are changing and increasing more and more over time. When we talk of the Main Chakras, we tend to refer basically to the 7 main chakras.

All animals and all people have chakras. These unseen beauties keep us healthy and happy. Just because we cannot visibly see them, doesn't mean we should ignore them.

Happy chakras is a happy body; mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally! And we all want that, right?

At this particular time of such fear and uncertainty in the World, maintaining our health/immune system is paramount.

Stress, trauma, fear of the  "what if's" can easily create an imbalance in our Chakras, which in turn can actually whittle away at your immune system. Other peoples fear can cause us unnecessary concerns too, even if we are doing all of the right work on ourselves to feel good.  Our own energy can take on their negative or worrying vibes. Not what we need at this time.

Even those of us that work on keeping our bodies and energies in good order, can often overlook working with our lower chakras more. Some will say, meh, been there - done that!!! Many are focusing going their higher chakras.

Good on you al who are caring for your unseen energy! However, these lower chakras are so important at this time to keep us more balanced and anchored. There needs to be a real focus on keeping them healthy and happy.

These lower chakras are the Solar Plexus, Sacral, Base and the Earth Star Chakra.

In brief;

The solar plexus chakra,  is located in your stomach area. It's responsible for confidence and self-esteem, as well as helping you feel in control of your life.

The sacral chakra is the centre of emotions, feelings and stimulates pleasure. It plays an active role in our sexuality and expression of our sexual needs and desires

Your root, or base chakra is what causes your survival instincts, also known as the fight or flight responses. As the base of the chakra system, the base chakra is located at the base of your spine.

The earth star chakra is not located in the physical body like most of the other chakras are, yet it still  has significant effects on day-to-day life. The earth star chakra connects our personal energy (and thereby all one’s bodily chakras) to the greater earthly and universal energies. This connection allows for feelings of grounding, stability, and wellbeing.

It is important , as said , to maintain a full healthy chakra system, however these lower charkas need regular checking and rebalancing as they can easily become out of balance and alignment as these are prime 'emotional' areas for us all.

If one does a full reading on a chakra for example,  they will find the reading  is changing constantly, even as often as every 5 minutes.

These are affected by our environment, emotions, thoughts, even our diet can affect these. Listening to the news for example, can change the reading on your chakras.

So how can you keep them healthy and balanced? Having awareness of them is the first step.

Meditating on them, being in a 'happy place and space',  colour, using crystals to help align them, visualization, chakra balancing/healing sessions; whatever floats your boat to get you going. Find what works for you, as what others do might not sit well for you personally.

If you work with crystals then ideal crystals at this time to sit with can be carnelians, agates; any crystal that resonates for you that are in the red/yellow/gold/earth tones is ideal.

Chakras and Color Healing | Yoga DigestColour: are you drawn to a particular colour ? Listen to your own body/energy more and it will help show you what you need. Wearing or having the more earthy tones with you is great for the lower chakras. Solar plexus loves yellows, golds and orangey tones too.

If your lower chakras are out of whack you may be feeling more ungrounded, fear based, feeling unsafe, memory losses like forgetfulness, anxiety etc.

Working your chakras needs to be part of a healthy regular routine.
